sharp pain in neck

lately, for about the past two weeks, I have had a pain that is sharp in nature on the left side of my neck.  Its not surface pain, but rather inside of the neck, closer to my esophagus than anything, but it feels very sharp.  I have seen a chiro before about back/posture issues, but just wondering if anyone else has had this or not.  Im 32 and in relatively good health.

I just joined and am wondering how you're doing.  What did the neurologist find?  I too have the same pain and symptoms of MS.  Was never diagnosed with MS however have autoimmune-disorders.  One is Polymyalgia rheumatica.  I also have Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalga, chronic migraines and history of breast cancer.
2 benign cysts were found in my neck.  I had an MRI of my spine.  That's where the cysts near my thyroid were first noticed.  The doctor then ordered an ultrasound to obtain exact measurements.  Fluid was later obtained for biopsy which came back negative for cancer.    I do believe this has been the cause of the pain. At times the pain would be higher yet I think that was referred pain.  I haven't yet had them removed.  After my very recent hysterectomy,  that's enough surgeries for awhile.
I don't know if you ever had an ultrasound or any other scan to rule out cysts.  Please try to keep me updated on your progress and questionable MS diagnosis.  Hold on to your faith & loved ones & stay strong!

went to the ER Friday after being referred by my PA.  I was checked for any blockages, ekg, CT of the Heart and put through a stress test.  All negative and unremarkable.  At this point, I am wondering if it is lymphnodes that are irritated, swollen, etc. I have no visible swelling, but stil the pain that I cant put my finger on in my neck.  I have pain also in my left lower jaw, just under the jaw line.  I was examined by the cardiologist at the hospital and told that I was fine, had zero issues with my heart or circulatory system and had about 60 more years left, which is encouraging, but doesn't explain the pain.  I am also having some MS symptoms (have been for 3 months or so) as well, and have a neurologist appointment next week.  Hopefully he can shed some light on all of this.  Thanks for your help!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. If there is tenderness on pressing the neck from outside, then this could be due to spinal nerve compression, inflamed sternocleidomastoid muscle as in TMJ (this would respond to physiotherapy, pain killers and cold compress), swollen lymph nodes if you can feel a mass, an abscess if you can feel a mass, a clot in the carotid artery or due to a muscle pull.
Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
