spinal fusion

my husband had spinal fusion in Sept 2013. He is still in pain. He went back to work a couple of weeks ago. I don't know what to do for him anymore. He does not sleep well and just seems to be in pain almost as bad as before he
had the surgery. Can anyone tell me is this normal??

Thank you so much. He goes back in April for a scan to see what's going on. I really appreciate your kindness.

i'm guessing that he got a work release from his dr. your husband needs to go back to the surgeon and tell him about the pains.the fusion may not have taken.hopefully the surgeon doesn't have the "god" syndrome.DO NOT LET THE SURGEON TELL YOU THAT IT IS OKAY !.if he does, get to a different surgeon right away. i had 3 discs fused 3 1/3 yrs ago, started out feeling great.about 1 mo.later i was in pain again and just kept getting worse.now i am finding out that the fusion never took and the hardware has come apart.i have also had another disc go.now i have to have my whole lumbar fused together because of other issues though. what i'm trying to say is that your husband needs to stand up to the dr.telling him that he is in pain and need another m r i done or milo/ct scan. i wish you the best
