Back pain and osteoarthritis of facet joint

Hi, I got injured at physical therapy (again) and have bad back pain for 5 months.  My MRI  was normal except for facet joint arthritis,  which I have no change in the MRI since the one in 2009. So I  am sure if that is what is causing my pain and muscle spasms.  They advised me to get a steroid injection into the facet joint for diagnosis and temporary pain relief. My pain is mostly in the glute on left side but do feel some stiffness near the spine.
1. Has anyone had these injections? How bad is the procedure and how long did the relief last (if you got any). Is it worth it?  Since the pain is low one day and high the next is that typical? Any suggestions for pain relief.  I am on a drug contract for clonazepam use for my abdominal migraines  so it is hard to get them tob
Budge.
Thanks
