I do not know about the tension you feel in your scalp. THis may very well be a side effect, but I don't udnerstand the mechanism with given information.
Often, the pain of a degenerative disc disease comes on quickly, and often enough, the symptoms do not immediately point to cervical disease, making diagnosis tricky. My cervical disc disease began with referred pain to the shoulder, so much so that I though I had a shoulder condition.
I am assuming you may live in a country where MRI is not used as often as it is in America. I've had my spine disease long enough to remember when xray was the only diagnostic imaging tool, and doctors were pretty good at reading xray --- however, MRI show so much more information, especially on the state of the discs.
You may need to see a specialist to get the MRI ordered.
Physical therapy can also help early cervical disease. A good PT who understand neck therapy may help you out of your pain problems -- seek one out.
Best wishes.

Welcome ispeak.
Since we've seen neither your MRIs nor have we examined you, I'm going to have to ask you a question in return...
What did your doctor say when you asked these questions?
BTW, I thnk you mean Nucoxia, a Cox-2 inhibitor, which is very much like aspirin, but without the stomach upset.
Best wishes.
