Neck Pain MRI results and treatment

I just received the results of my cervical spine MRI. The doctor told me they are abnormal and is sending me to a brain and spine institute for further evaluation. He didn't really tell me what was abnormal about it.  The results are:
No disc shows a discrete herniation, but there are some broad, shallow disc/osteophyte protrusion into the right C6 neural foramen, producing some distortion of the corresponding nerve root sleeve. Significance depends largely upon correlation with the specific distribution of clinical symptoms. The protrusion is too far lateral to effect the spinal cord.  The left C6 foramen and nerve root sleeve remain fully patent.
The C6-7 disc margin produces an additional slight impression on the anterior thecal sac. Thecal sac distortion is negligible, but the right C7 neural foramen is a little narrower than the left.
Spinal cord configuration and internal signals appear normal throughout. The cerebellar tonsils extend perhaps 2.0 mm below the margin of the foramen magnum but do not extend into the cervical spinal canal.
I'm just wondering what all of this means and what the treatments are..  I am a nursing assistant at a local long term care facility and I am  concerned that this is going to keep me from doing my job 100%.
