Preparation for MRI of the back

I am due to have an MRI on my back for a suspected prolapsed lumbar disc. My menstrual period has started. If I have in a Tampax while the MRI is being taken will this interfere with the image?

As long as there is no metal like a staple or anything in it that has metal, which it shouldn't have since it would scratch you then it is ok. The main thing is to not wear any metal.

I had another thought, where is the MRI going to be taken, not of the pelvis or female areas? If it is the low back I don't think it matters. It is only for about 20 minutes-1 hour so you could wear a pad during that short time.
