Radio Frequency Ablation

Hello - I have been suffering from lower back pain for almost 2 years. I tried treating it with chiropractic care for 6 months with little success. I am now seeing a Pain Management doctor and have had a series of 3 epidural steroid injections which helped for only a week or so after. I had a MRI done and I have 2 bulging disks and mild arthritic changes.
I asked my doctor about getting Radio Frequency Ablation done as I know a few people who have had great success with this procedure. My doctor said because I do not have degenerative disk disease and/or sever arthritis that I am not a candidate for Radio Frequency Ablation.  I have been on lyrica with little success and I am beyond frustrated at this point. I am in pain every day and some nights I am not able to sleep because of the pain. she has referred me to a spine surgeon - but I am only 40 and I do not want to go down that road.... what will I be like when I am 60?!?!?
I am going to get a 2nd opinion however what I was wondering is has anyone ever been approved for this procedure without having DDD or sever arthritis.

I had the Radio Frequency Ablation done bilateral L4 and L5.  My doctors do not know exactly what is causing my low back pain.  They never gave me a name for it, just Lumbago.  I had facet joint injections and medial branch blocks before the Rhiziotomy.  It worked on those joints, but I still have pain and will be getting another facet injection in my L5-S1 joint.  Currently taking Ultracet for my pain.  I am only 32 years old and understand what you might be going through.  Definately seek a second opinion.
