Sharp neck pain from quick movements

Sometimes I have sharp neck pain when I make quick movements during physical activity. The pain is sudden and only lasts a few seconds and it doesn’t  radiate anywhere else in my body. It happened a few times in middle school when I hurled a basketball across the court with an overhand throw. I have recently noticed it plying golf when I swing my driver faster than normal.

Is this something I should be worried about? What could be the causes?
