lower back problems.

I have lower back pain on my left side, I am 21 and have had it in varying degrees since about the age of fourteen. it has always been in the same spot. The pain usually stays in my lower left side but it is shooting down my left leg and buttocks. I no longer have health insurance either. The specialist i have been to can't find anything and the family doctor says that I have fused vertebrates, they have only prescribed muscle relaxants and it is not a flipping muscle any help ideas anything is appreciated. I have been on vicodin, skelaxtin, and flexeril.

I am assuming that your family doctor has x-rays.
You need to see a physical therapist and strengthen your inner core. There is nothing the doctors can do to fix the problem.  The operation is far from perfect and usually results in more pain. The muscle relaxants do help some people, but can't help people with severe problems.
You do need to see a neurologist and get an MRI. They will work with you, even if you don't have insurance.

Thanks, The specialist did send me for an MRI and yes the doctor has xrays. I guess i really have to try a neurologist. I have started working out and doing low impact exercises that the doc gave me but they end up hurting more than helping it feels like.
