is this just myofascial pain syndrome or something more serious

Im currently undergoing therapy for myofascial pain syndrome. TENS, ultrasound and after, they knead, use their elbow on my upper traps and when they do its really painful. When my upper traps is palpated there is like a hard mass and when i shrug i feel that there is like a series of popping or gurgling sound. What is it really?  plus there is pain on my triceps that i think causes the tingling sensation, sometimes pain on my hand. doctor says its beginning CTS but i feel it all over my palm, wrist, ALL of my fingers involved. Are they doing it right or should i go to another doctor? right now my traps is still painful. a part of it is tender. heat, pain killers arent working :(

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!

I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Since you are still in pain, it would be better if you could take a second opinion. Since you have pain right up to your fingers, you could be suffering from Scalene Myofascial Pain Syndrome. When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred from neck to (either all or a combination of) chest, inner lining of scapula (shoulder bone), shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. Treatment is by physiotherapy that involves indentifying the trigger points, and massaging them, and other exercises to relieve the muscle tension.

The other possibility is arthritis of the joints between vertebrae and ribs. This can cause a cracking gurgling sound. The sound can also be produced by ligament and tendon tears. So, please take a second opinion. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.

My current doctor is actually my third one and your reply made sense better. As this post was days ago the pain on my shoulders is now relieved but my arm pain is there still. Now i can palpate the area on my shoulder and feel the gurgling sound just right above the clavicle in the middle of the whole length. what tests should be done to know if there are ligament and tendon tears? will it worsen if they continue kneading on my shoulder??

Im only 22 so the doctor said arthritis isnt quite possible. Is that true? I had an accident last Feb and fell hard on my right side which now is the side in pain. Is nerve compression possible? cause i searched that Scalene Myofascial Pain Syndrome only involves like the thumb and pointer finger and i feel lightning like pain on the center of my palm, wrist and tingling on all fingers.

Thank you very much btw. your reply has already helped me tons. I feel very anxious on not knowing the cause of this plus the doctors ive consulted are not much of a help :(
