Surgery options and prognosis

An MRI of my neck showed "C3-C4-a sizeable disc extrusion situated in the canal on the right extending to involve the neuroforamen. There is almost complete obliteration of the right neuroforamen. The left is normal and there isjust mild compromise of the cord as a result of the large disc extrusion.C4-C5- minimal foraminal degererative changes are noted with a slight degree of stenosis.C5-C6- A very large disc extrusion involving the canal extending to the left of midline with involvement of the neuroforamen. There is significant narrowing of the neuroforamen on the left. There may be a combination of disc extrusion and reactive degenerative change. This does, however, result in significant foraminal stenosis on the left. There is early degenerative stenosis of the foramen onthe right and mild compromise of the cord.At C6-C7 there is some posterior degenerative change, which protrudes into the canal posterior to the disc space. There is a focally significant disc extrusion in the left canal with minimal compromise of the neuroforamen on the left. There is early foraminal degenerative change. The canal is otherwise unremarkable. The cord is normal at each of these levels save for mild compromise due to the extruded discs."Ten years ago I started having severe pain upon lying down , and my doctor said I had fibromyalgia.I have taken pain killers since then at bedtime to sleep.I  started seeing chiropractors at my doctor's suggestion.Daily neck pain, headaches and nausea started last October, and continually got worse.I started getting surface numbness on the left side of my head, from my neck to the top of my head.Feels like spiders walking on my face. When I lay down to rest I have excruciating pain from my neck to my feet.Walking around and general activity only my neck and head hurt.Around last October I noticed profound hearing loss. What is the prognosis in a case like mine? Can hearing loss come from this? How much of this could come from chiropractic manipulation?

IF Doctors are concerned about my comments i speak from5 years of  spinal decay. ive been there done that and  Wont go places again. i was involvedin a 130 MPH head on Collision at age21 I was the driver of a motorcycle. remaining in a coma for 62 days I have  overcome  total \Amnesia  And i currently suffer from a  C spine  C 345 compression of nerve roots at  intervals of  2 to 12 millilmetersdown the  C ervical body   It was  Broken again in2003  and  repaired in 2006 by cementing Arthroplasty technique and  Artificial disks at c 23 and 56 .  i bave  30% vertebral height at t 10 to s1  ive lived with this most of my life  my Faciallacerations  cut  many nerves and one severed the trigeminal Nerve to the left side  lower jaw  3 teeth  rear of its entry to the  Gum  Overthe years I had  these 3 teeth removed and the nerve fibers removed from the outer side of the gum .  That I will  Absolutely  say NO person should undergo such pain .
My current list are C spine pain L5 S1 critical nerve entrapment  truigeninal Neuralgia And a headache that taked the maximum  dose of  nneurontin to control. leftunmedicatd it is suicidal  it may be  acommon sourc formy  TGN headache and  orchestrallevel of tinitus . Combined I have the  4 most painfull issues known to mankind i live with it until I can  have surgery .  As I am Canadian Its a slow process. i know whatthe prognosis is and Ive guided My doctors and never failed to make the right choice.  I do not speak on issues I have no experience with. And you may find my  alternatives  ver unique and  benificial  having lived in painsince 1968 i have a sincere desire to  have a day without medication  to make it thru.

Hello from a badly damaged neck  i suffered since 1968 . Fibromyalgia is  thought to originate from  C spine  issues  I realy dont know of a medication to help if the fibro decides to  be bad it will overpower all the registered drugs and  Gabbablockers . neuological pain does not respond to opiates or known pain killers but MAY respond to  Gabba blockers and a small dose of  Codeine Carbamezapine is one  to begin with its a matter that finds one that wrks for you or a combination  if it is very sever. itgs a fishing expidition but a relatively safe one . LoW addiction and doctors like that .
Gentle exercise and stretching  will open the vertebra gap evenly and allow the disk to slither back .  it takes time dont get impatient.  I would request abrain MRI to check for abnormalities and A possible  rigeminal  Nerve damage . The pain from that can manifest in many ways .  neuralgia is the  sheath of the nerve is wORN Neuropathy ia a severing of the nerve as mine  I live with the pain  as its not  known I wont discuss the options but today  Neurologistsdo have options
i am not personally convinced of one for my case I have had  so called sure fire cures only to suffer for 2 or 3 years in agony .
Any neck injur and disk abnormalithy is  frightening    my  most powerfull  advice is relaxtake time away from the computer  .   hunting for a cure leave that to the doctors . let your fearsgo the neck is a very strong structure and can wobble itself back to normal and often doe s fear is your greatest enemy .  trust is  what the doctor will recommend is your need . you do not discuss fractures and I say  nyour  future is good.

Dear Friend,
Many thanks for your post.

What is the prognosis in a case like mine?
You can have a pretty good prognosis, provided you take a proper treatment

Can hearing loss come from this?
Unlikely to be related to this cause.

How much of this could come from chiropractic manipulation?
                Can be possible.

As far as the perfect treatment is concern, i would ask you to meet a good orthopaedician or neurosurgeon, who specializes in spine.
It appears that surgical treatment would be good for you, in the present situation.
Please discuss, for further option.
Regards

Thanks for your response.  I have an appointment with a Neurosurgeon on July 8th that specializes only in spinal surgery.  It seems like a long ways away, since I sleep very little and am in a lot of pain, mostly when I try to relax or rest.  When I'm doing physical work I feel pretty good, except for exhaustion.  The numbness on the left side of my neck and head is pretty constant, occuring every hour.  Nausea is worse during and after resting.  Thanks again.
