I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ptsd. my inital diagnoses was did (disociative personality disorder). I am not sure what is exactly wrong with me and i am convinced that my doctors are not completely sure either. i currently take: * lamictal *citalopram *xanex *risperdone *ambien... its still hard to focus but its a different impedement on the meds its not the same kind of distraction or process. i want to stop taking them but i know how bad things are when i am not on them. i do not know what i shoudl do.

thanks guys. i am just so frustrated because I have gotten second opinions and am actually on my third phychiatrist! i think ive been on verything ther eis to be on for bp disorder. this i sthe second time we have rearranged my meds and it just seems like nothing really helps enough to tolerate the sideeffects... because even with my cocktail i still have moodswings like crazy, insomnia and these crying episodes where i just cant stop. thank you so much for respondign because i really do not have anyone to talk to about this- who isnt judgmental and tell me its all in my head...

Lamictal as a mood stabilizer is tolerable. Risperdal as an anti-psychotic is generally tolerable but can be sedating. Abilify has less sedation. Celexa is an anti-depressent. That can have its side effects but you may need that. For more information on other anti-depressents google "Depression Central". Xanax is generally used short term as an anti-anxiety medication. Klonopin or another medication in the same category is safer used long term. Ambien is not meant for everyday use as a sleeping aide as it can be addictive. Lunesta or Rozerem are two better choices. Rozerem works in the same manner as Melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. Those are some ideas to speak to your psychiatrist about.

you are probably overmedicated and its time to see another doc for evaluation.Get reevaluated and tell the doc what you have told here.Let us know how you are.
