I try to be very careful what I listen to. Certain music can/will bring on depression or manic stages for me. I actually had my psychotic mania while I was listening to a lot of techno at the time. The doctor told me I should listen to something more soothing.
I've been thinking about classical music 'cause I used to listen to that a lot when I was younger. It always seemed to help me.
No, I never have used techno music for soothing my moods, although i do listen to a lot of music when manic, such as pop, rock, tool and country. when i am depressed i listen to Eminem and not much else and only occasionally. I find music helps me express how i am feeling and when i am manic it makes me more hyper and active and when i am depressed music makes me more sad and cry. But i still love it.

Music don't change my mood although I enjoy it. Having emotional responses to music doesn't have anything to do with bipolar. I keep hearing things like this, being bipolar makes you more creative, more sensitive, now more responsive to music. We are just people and how we respond to thing or our state of being is individual, not based on having a disorder.
I'm the same way, except instead of Techno its music like Hans Zimmer, John Williams anything without words with a classical theme to it really.
