I know I have Bipolar I was diagnosed at age 11 but what is the difference between Bipolar 1 and Bipolar2

Hello,
I have BP2 so I can only speak to that. Depression is my biggest challenge when I'm down and irritability is my challenge when I'm up.

The depression part is actually not that bad anymore thanks to meds. But holy hec was it bad before. I once spent 6 weeks in bed. Now I find that when I am cycling through my up phase, I still get irritable but don't rage anymore, spend too much money, and start and don't finish projects. But I don't do any of the things to the far extreme, just enough to make me and everyone around me miserable for awhile.

Bipolar I requires a full manic or mixed episode.  Bipolar II requires at least one full depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode, with no full manic or mixed episodes.
