Depakote and Side Effects

Hi there, I looked on the side effects of Depakote and I didn't find anything to do with this. I've never been an angry person, nor have I really ever have I ever blasted people or my dogs.  I yell at my dogs, have no patience, basically more irritability that I'm not able to control .I'm Bipolar,with mixed states, rapid cycling and have been in the last couple of months, hypomanic. I started the med going on 3 weeks ago, and this week has been awful, my moods swinging between irritability and sluggishness.  Do you have any insight?

I forgot about PMDD, my PMS have been really bad since stopping SSRI's. I called my pharmacist abut the Dep, he said it could happen, doing the exact opposite of what it's supposed to be. I'm so spacey tol! I wish I could go back on Lith. *grumbles and mumbles*

I know you said in a previous post that your doc says you are too young for peri-menopause but I really don't think this should be ruled out.  It would be worth having your hormone levels checked, specifically the progesterone level.  Early menopause does tend to run in families, my mum was late 30's early 40's.  My doc refused to check my levels :-s  With the depakote and seroquel these are 2 meds that are supposed to help with irritability and anger which is why I'm looking outside the "box" for this.  Are you on any AD's alongside these.  I for one experienced a dramatic switch to irritability and physical anger when I was on an AD.
