TSH should be between .3 and 3.0 but I am like you angie I feel best at .1 that I am at now for thryoid cancer supression .TSH does indeed have an effect on you bi polar.Hypothyroid ism will mimic bi polar and any doc worth his diploma will have your thyroid checked before giving a bi polar DX.I tell this to posters all the time and the reeason I post what TSH levels should be is because alot of docs outside of endocrinologist (and even alot of them) dont know the TSH level standards.
Lessa find out what your TSH level is and get it checked again and go from there. Angie is right about maybe getting treated with synthroid or armour to see if it helps your bi polar. I know since I have been on the levothyroixine ( I have no thyroid) I am doing much better I am not even getting the mini manics and depressions I use to get before my surgery.
Let us know how it goes and what your TSH is.

Off in what way? (low are high tsh?)
When my tsh is off even a little bit, it affects my bipolar (either hypomania or depression) depending on whether the tsh is high or low. For instance, I feel best if my tsh is between 1.5 and 2. According to the lab values, tsh can be as high as 5.0, but I feel terrible when it is that high. I would suggest asking your doctor if he/she would be willing to treat you and see if that helps your mood stability.
