I need help with Bipolar bf, please

So, he works at a bar, which isn't the best place for him, but he seems comfortable there for a few reasons. He has these two friends that are also married to one another and how conveniently enough for them, they visit him there all the time because they are also both alcoholics! The real problem is that they fight in front of him all the time. I noticed whenever they do that, he just shuts down and its impossible to make him answer a text or talk to me. He won't even say good night. I don't know what to do when this happens. I leave him alone because thats all I can do...but then I get nervous bothering him the next day. And when I cant talk to him for a while it really upsets me. I worry because I know its not good for him to be around negativity, but they fight without any courtesy to him- not as a friend or their bartender!

Hi sweetie,

I suffer from Bipolar Disorder, and my opinion.. the two causing negativity is not what's affecting your boyfriend. There is a possibility that the fighting could trigger something that happen to him in the past, but honestly are moods change like the weather. Sometimes there isn't even a reason. Now to him ignoring you, sadly we all do it to someone. Don't take it personal. Perhaps you could sit with him and just let him in on your feelings, surely that will have a more positive outcome. Other than that what goes on at his job is out of both of your control. Much love, Lexis

Dear Butterflies, I listened last week to a PodCast on this American Radio.
The mental illness wasn't  Bipolar but the point of what the treatment is the same.    The patient was being rewarded when not being loved.  The patient wanted to be left alone. No talking. No kindness. Nothing.
You may need to see his Psychiatrist with him to bring this out into the open.   Then the psychiatrist will let both of you know how this behavior is to be addressed at home.
If you live in the USA, there are Free support groups family members with Bipolars can attend.    Pamela
