Latuda as a new patient good for bipolar 2?

Hello all, new to this community. I’ve been prescribed 80mg of Latuda for bipolar 2 depression, anxiety and irritability. Anyone have experience with this? I’m also on lamictal and klonopin. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks all,

I have absolutely heard it is.  When were you diagnosed and what led to the diagnosis?  I'm glad you reached out for help.  Come back and share how you are doing!

The Latuda did not help at 80mg. Experienced high mood swings and severe irritability and anger issues. Switch to 40mg 5 days ago, see no change. Very frustrated!
I can certainly relate to the high irritability and anger issues.  I am somewhat new to dealing with this illness although I’ve had it for a long time.  I am on 75 mg. Seroquel which has helped but not enough - I still feel the intense frustration and rage inside, the contempt, intolerance and even hatred.

Gosh, I really don't blame you.  That IS frustrating. What was going on when they diagnosed you?  How old are you if you don't mind me asking.  We've had an excellent community leader here who is on break but I may contact him to see if he has anything he can offer you.  Stick with us, I hope that we can be of help to you and at the very least, a place to vent and give you support!

Tnx for caring. I’m 44. I started Latuda for anxiety from bipolar type . The worst type in my opinion. That’s the one thing the Dr’s could never get under control. I stopped the Latuda and on Depakote 500 mg. See if this helps but doubtful.

Do you have family that is supportive?  This is your first time on Depakote?  I asked someone who is really knowledgeable to stop by.  Why do you say it is doubtful that Depakote will help?  Keep the faith!  And often, it is a combination of drugs that work best.  Latuda given with something else, something added to your Depakote.  Etc.  It's finding the right path for you specifically which is a bit of trial and error which I KNOW is really hard on you.  Are you trying to stay away from benzo's for anxiety? Counseling can also be a big part of treatment.  do you do this?

I have never been on Depakote before but I am on Lamotrigine and have had many cocktails over the years. By now I know as much about the drugs as the doctors. I am in counseling and on clonazpam. I’m doubtful this will work just because I’ve seen it so many times before, I mean a lot! No point in whinnying, it is what it is. If this does not work I’m just going to stick with my Lamotrigine and call it a day. Thanks for the concern and support!
Hope all is well your way

I wish I knew how to make it all easier for people!  I guess I hope it works.  I had thought you were newly diagnosed but you must mean just this aspect to it.  Do you have family, a wife and support at home?  I think that can really make a difference---  can be good or bad depending.

Hi John.  Wanted to see how you are doing?  Any change with the new med? Hope you are coping alright!
