Those also can be symptoms of borderline personality disorder. If in doubt, get a 2nd opinion. Good Luck!
I was diagnosed with depression at 15 but sometimes get slightly elated moods (like waking up at 3am and wanting to call and chat with friends or go for a walk!) and the 'manic' episodes only last an hour or two and then go away. Never-the-less I was diagnosed with rapid-cycling bi-polar about six months ago. But since the manic episodes never really bother me I haven't changed anything because of the diagnosis.
I would suggest talking to your doctor or psychiatrist about it :)
I was but I already told you why in your previous post. As ILADVOCATE said people can rapid cycle or have the the mild version of bipolar disorder called cyclothymia. My depression would become more or less severe seemingly at random or sometimes through a trigger several times a day sometimes even in less than a minute and I never really had mania although it seemed like it because I was always hyper even while depressed but when less depressed I had more uh... energy I guess? And it showed more however and I was told my dad was the same way but he rather went from mania to depression instead and had rapid cycling bipolar disorder.
hi ....I am the same with similar symptoms...and have been dx'd with Cyclothymia 2 yrs ago. I never have what I would call the 'highs' but I do have the extreme lows and alot of moody cycling.
but was told my highs could be the anger/extreme frustration I some times unload with little provocation.
Highs can for somepeople be excessive shopping/drinking binges/anger outburst/...etc
I was put on a mood stabilizer 2 years ago as a last resort, after trying a variety of antidepressants.
I must admit I too was very skeptical......I lived with a bipolar husband and son and I sure don't fit their in category and very unlike their highs and lows...
but I must admit the mood stabilizer does appear to keep me from becoming the angry person I once was( again that could be situational??)
and I don't have the AS DEEP of the lows either...
Medications are never going to be the cure all for any of us...changing situations and
therapy can also be of help..
Do some reading into the many types of bipolar as ILADVOCATE mentioned and see if you can find a connection there and speak to your Psych.
good luck
There are many types of bipolar. A person whose moods change that quickly could be called rapid cycling which is common (happens with me). As well bipolar doesn't have to be extreme. Cyclothymia is a mild version of bipolar. Speak to your psychiatrist about all this.
