Weelbutrin and Irritability

I started Wellbutrin a month ago after switching from Zoloft...  I began Zoloft for depression and irritabiity (very quick to get angry over no apparent reason.)  The Zoloft seemed to work great for both, but I was exhausted all the time, was obsessed with food, and gained 10 pounds in 2 months (which in itself is depresssing).  The Wellbutrin has been wonderful for these side effects (although I have experienced no weight loss as others have reported);  however, my irritability is through the roof!  I have no idea for sure, but I suspect I may be bipolar since many of my family members are.

I have put in a request to have my dosage upped from 150mg to whatever my doctor feels is appropriate.  Here are my questions:

1. Is it possible an increase in dosage will help with my extreme irritability or is it more likely to increase it?
2. Is Wellbutrin appropriate for mood swings? I know it's helped with depression, but I'll take nothing at all if I have to sacrifice depression for screaming at my family all the time....

Thanks so much for any information...

How do you get screened for being bipolar?  Do I have to go to a psychiatrist to do that?

Have you been screened for bi polar? The well butrin by itself will cause you to go manic. alot of bi polars are diagnosed as only depression ussually because  the manic feels good  so the doc nevers sees the manic side.Hang in there. In the meantime go for some exercise like a brisk walk and make sure you spend some me time.
