any one hear voices or whispers in manic state

i am still in my manic state and being treated and I swear I hear whispers not everyday but here and there i have am i crazy or just hearing things

I was preg before I was Dx and it was the best I ever felt.  Something about the preg hormones in your system seem to straighten you out.  Just something to think about.  I breast feed my daughter so the good feeling continued.  After she was weaned I started going back to "moody"  but it wasn't til many yrs later (when she was around 14) that I was DX'ed.  I was found to be BP1 with mixed episodes.

I suppose that if any of you really wanted to go off meds and chance it that it could work and go right back on as soon as the birth.  Just a thought.

I am hypo and take 125 levox. i am a little hyper but my end says everything is fine since my free T4 is good.  should i suggest another med i don't want to f my system up it took a long time to get my thyorid right.

Mine was borderline hyperthyroid and Lithium brought me down to a normal range for the first time in my life! :0)  If you are hypothyroid it can really mess you up.  You might need to ask your doctor first.  If you are low thyroid it kills your thyroid and you have to have thyroid medicine if you use Lithium.  Lithium did not make me sleepy at all.  I really had no side effects!

He said it was good for racing thoughts how long does it take to work?  my thoyrid is bad anyway and i get is check every three to six months.  he said it may make me sleepy at first he is starting out at 450

It is fantastic!  I had minor side effects from it.  I had hand shaking.  Once I adjusted, no problems and it went away.  Drink lots of water on it and get regular blood tests for your kidney's, Thyroid and Lithium level.  There is a range.  They will probably start you on 900mg a day for two weeks, test your blood, then adjust you to the right range up or down.  I happen to need 1450mg a day.  I am at .9 which is perfect.  .8 or .9 is great.  You might gain a few pounds on it.  I did, but I was still depressed and needed an anti-depressent.  Lamictal works this way.  It is excellent with Lithium.  I just could not use it because of migraine headaches.  It helps some migrainers, but for me it caused them.  You can avoid major weight gain by drinking water instead of sugary drinks.  You need the water for your kidney's due to Lithium metabolizing in the kidney's.  I am glad your doctor is trying this for you.  Seroquel is nasty nasty nasty.  I hope you get to just use Lithium and Lamictal.  In a month, message me and let me know how it works for you!  
Oh, my cocktail  Lithium, Wellbutrin and Respridal for sleep.  Lithium helps with racing thoughts and excellent for mania but does not help me sleep.  Good luck!!!!!!

We are planning to do an open adoption.  A child deserves to know their birth parents history.  I think most kids that are adopted want to know their roots even though they love their adopted family.  We have not decided what age child we want yet.  BP does suck, but it is something to work at keeping under control verus letting it get out of control.  I am coming to terms with it and accepting it for what it is.  It is not who I am, just an illness I have.

Are you planning on adopting a baby?  In my younger years I was BP but no one knew and I got in lots of trouble and got my self pregnant at 14 and had a son who was adopted very trying time for me i wanted to keep him but the agency lied to me and my parents did me wrong.  birth parents love their children just as much as the adopted parents sometimes the adopted parents don't think that.  BP sucks

Yes, I know.  That is why I looked for a forum in order to have a support system, along with my counseling, support groups and family.  Do you have a support group in your area?  I have heard so many women with BP having difficult pregnancies.  I think adoption is the best choice for me and my fiance.  If I had a mild form of BP I probably would get pregnant.  However, being mixed state is frustrating as it is and I flip out easy if I am not on meds.  We are only adopting one, and he is not sure yet if he wants kids.  I hope so, but if we do, just one!

Yep, I took 200mcg when I was pregnant - i knew that after birth i may have major problems but i can work through them - your body goes though so many changes.  I am groggy also today because i took 100mcg of seroquel last night and it kicked my butt today but i wake in a good mood though - i called the dr and he sent off form a "calm me down drug" but sometimes those have the oppsite effect on me you know.  I have three children - my son 15 was adopted, my daughter 12, and son 8months.  it is really rough being alone and living alone taking care of them - my BP really has kicked in - i really need to get a support system people who are like me you know

Yes, very sleepy and now I am mega groggy today.  That is why I am dropping down to .5 mg w/melatonin tonight.  I think seroquel is too debilitating when you have a child to take care of.  I had a very bad reaction on it at only 25mg!  It messed me up for 2 days.  I think it is awsome that you could have a child and be a mixed state BP.  I am so afraid of being out of wack again that we have decided to adopt after we get married.  Seroquel is the only thing you can take during pregnancy, or so I was told?  Therefore, I am not going off my good meds to get pregnant.  It saddens me some, but adoption will be exciting!

Is respridal make you sleepy?  Seroquel and limictal were a great combo for me but try to wake up and feed a baby on 200mcg of seroquel - yeah right.  I go from happy, to depressed and have both at the same time it is nice to have someone understand

Same here!  I hate being mixed state.  I can be so manic and feel so depressed at the same time.  It is very very frustrating.  I take 1450mg of Lithium, 150mg of Wellbutrin and .5 mg of Respridal with some melatonin for sleep.  Great combo for me.  I really like how I am feeling right now.  Seroquel is nasty for me too!  It messes me up bad.  Limictal causes me migraines.  So the combo I am on is working great so far.  I started the respridal last night and 1mg was too strong so I am going to try the .5 w/melatonin tonight.  Respridal is great for mixed state bipolar and works nicely w/ Lithium, which is why I asked for it.  It is a strong med though.  Hope this helps!

I have racing thoughts also, the dr wanted me to be put on sequal (sp) with my litmital (sp) but I can't take the seq. because it makes me to sleepy.  I got an 8 month old to take care of.  I have to watch it in my manic state because i tend to want to do drugs i also see things i hate being like this.  my manic state is mixed with depression and the racing thoughts are killing me.  what other med do you guys suggest

When I am manic I hear rock and roll music.  Kind of nice!  It is like a speaker is next to me playing the music!

i do hear voices but off and on as well as hallucinations, but my problem is mainly racing thoughts

I don't hear thngs when manic but I do get the racing thoughts and I see things.  Talk to your Pdoc about it and have your meds adjusted.

I never heard voices just mine and I would tell it to shut up. I have been stable now for 7 years on celexa and zyprexa Oh and I used to see bugs that werent there when I was manic. Its been a long time though since I have seen any bugs.
are you in treatment with meds and therapy?"  are you taking good care of yourself with healthy foods and exercise. that will help the whispers to go away. and get you 6 hours of sleep. I know its tough when you are manic but it can be done. Let me know how you are .
