Help!  I have recently been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and I don't know how to handle it.  I am depressed about finding out about this illness.  I am currently taking Valporic Acid for the Bipolar although I feel that the dose is not strong enough also I feel like I have lost my mind.  The doctor has given my resperidone but I have been feeling like someone is out to get me lately and also thinking the computer is communicating with me.  It's really scarying me ..... I just want to be well.  Please help.

I was started on resperidone ( antipsychotic medication) and it did good for me.  As for the Depakote I have never tried.

You didn't say how long you have been on them.  Have they had time to work?

Either way I agree with DLA.  Time to call your Dr. and take it from there.

Good Luck.  Come back and let us know if you are ok.

You need to get back in touch with your dr immediately and tell s/he what is going on.  Could be that you are having a bad reaction to the meds you were put on.  I don't know anything about those meds, but I do know that one of the antidepressants my dr put me on made me much much worse.

Hang in there and know that it will get much better, but it may take a while to get the right meds and the right doses.  But it WILL get better.

Remember that the computer is not talking to you, it is just a hallucination.  So take control and tell your brain, out loud, that you know it is not real and you're not going to hear it anymore.  May sound silly, but it's what I had to do with the voices in my head and it worked.

Sorry I can't give you much advice on the paranoia, I'm having lots of trouble with it again myself and can't seem to get a handle on it.
