I knew a girl in school.Straight A student, parents had money, owned lot of land. She had no friends because of her lies.I spent time with her because she was lonely and really was a nice person. We would talk and she would constantly lie.I knew why she had no friends. They were stupid lies, just for the sake of telling one.Later I met her Father. Then I knew exactly where she got it. He lied the very same way. Most people lie for a reason, like to keep from hurting someone or to keep themselves out of trouble, but they just lied for no reason. It changed nothing and served no purpose. I figured her dad just liked to do it and she copied him.

I suppose there can be many reasons for lying.  Bear13 has mentioned a couple of possibilities.  I'd like to add one more: ADHD.  Some, not all, people with attention deficit can be habitual liars.  Quite apart from medical conditions, though, lying can also be a strictly psychological problem.  Either way, professional help may be required.

All the best!

Hi Jai -  Is your husband bipolar or suffer from depression?  Perhaps that's the reason, and he should be treated accordingly.  Additionally there is a sexuality and relationship forum that is monitored by an expert, so you might want to check that out too and post your question there, there might be a bit more insight... otherwise, if he is depressed, bipolar, etc., then he should definitely see a doctor.....good luck!
