methadone for bipolar

Sorry, I forgot to ask about methadone for bipolar...I read that methadone can help with this. I'm desparate to help my husband and keep me safe..I don't want to have to file charges against him for threatening me.

I am not a doctor, but I would think you DON"T want to take methadone for bi-polar. If you are still visiting this site, feel free to message me and I can go over things that have helped me (being I was diagnosed bi-polar manic depressive).

Our son was under the care of psychiatrists for 14 years for bipolar disorder, and the only medication that completely alleviated his symptoms was methadone. He eventually received social security disability because even with the doctors' medications he could not hold down a job. The local methadone clinic was the only place he could get the medication from, but the price increases made it impossible for us to continue sending him there.  If we could have paid for his methadone, I believe he would still be alive today. He passed away at age 34. There are cases of bipolar individuals who faithfully visited methadone clinics every week for years and were thereby able to lead normal lives as a result.

He is on seroquel currently. What I read is that the antidepressant can actually negate some of the effects of the seroquel. As I said, I am desparate at the moment because of his threats.

Still in the early stages of research so I am not sure if a psychiatrist would consider it but there are a wide variety of mood stabilizers both FDA accepted for this use or FDA approved medications used off label as mood stabilizers:
