Birth Control Pills or DP shot

Hey, I'm looking to start a new birth control. At first I was considering the Depo Provera shot, but than I read up on it some more and there are so many negative side effects, such as loss of period, osteoporosis, even after a short amount of time. So my second option is birth control pills. I've always been very reluctant to take them, just because of the side effects I've read about. My second worry is that it will interfere with my thyroid. I have hypothyroidism, and don't want to take anything that might damage it more. Is anyone else in this situation? Or is there someone who can offer some advice about what they experienced which taking each different birth control?
