First month of BC pills -no period, brown discharge instead

This is my first month of lolo birth control pills, and I have been taking them at the same exact time every day. I have not missed a single day, or taken the pill later than usual. I started the pill the first day of my period, so it was effective from the start, but I waited a week before engaging in any sexual activity.

I have too much anxiety about getting pregnant so my partner also uses a condom when we have sex, so we use two forms of contraceptives.

My question is... I did not get my period this month as I was supposed to. Instead, I got a thick brown stringy discharge on the second day of my placebo pills (I only have two sugar pills in my pack). The thick brown discharge sometimes had a tinge of pink, but it was dark brown most of the time and lasted about 4 days.

I took a pregnancy test 4 days after my period was supposed to come, and it came out as negative. Could I possibly be pregnant, or is this just how my body is reacting to the synthetic hormones?

Any help is greatly appreciated! I've been freaking out for days, and I'm not sure if I should take another pregnancy test, an unexpected pregnancy would ruin my life.
