Stopping active pills?

I skipped my break week due to my anniversary. So I've taken 32 active pills in a row. However I've been spotting since Friday and it's only gotten heavier. From experience, I know this won't stop until I have my actual break week. Since I've taken more than 21 active pills in a row can I just stop for 7 days now and start up a new pack then and still be protected? I really don't want to bleed for the next 9 days just to still have a period.

That's what I used to do - I'd take active pills until I started spotting and then stop for 7 days and save the extra active pills from the partial pack to use the next cycle. But I think it depends on the pills themselves as to if they'll still be reliable like that. You might ask your pharmacist.
