Implanon prolonged menstruation

In the first year or so with the implanon, my girlfriend would have 3-4 months or more without menstruation and then a 2-3 week period. This was perfect for us, but in the second year they became more frequent and now her periods have became almost constant. She will be quite heavy for a week or so, it will gradually calm until she think it could stop and then get heavy again. Occasionally it does stop for a few days and then start again. Is there anything we can do?

see her gyno and ask if they can put her on a mild dose of painkillers and that will shift it back to a normal schedule. I also have implanon and just got over having my period for a full month but it was super light and really annoying
