Mirena IUD

I got the IUD in may 2007 after my son was born i loved it, my periods stopped and things couldnt have been better. December 2009 i started getting my periods again, they would last a few days then go away. then around Feb 2010 my periods would go for 3 days then off for 2 then on for 3 then stop for 2. it got to the point i felt i was alwyas on my period. i went to my doc who said it was probably a hormone inbalance and gave me some pills they also have done 2 ultra sounds and to make sure the IUD is in place, because my stings got cut when they did a cancer biopsy. things were fine for a month after the pills then i started having periods again. its now oct i have not had a period in 3 months and i am not sure if i should be worred. i am moody, sore breasts and am gaining weight, the pregnancy tests are comming up neg. and my doctors say not to worry..... has any one else had this problem. i am really getting to the point its not worth it, if i always have to question whats going on..... any one have suggestions?

I too am on mirena have been since oct 2010 and everything was regular until june 2011 when i started not having periods, I thought it was great no more once a month interruptions. 20/9 I had discharge that was brown and only when wiping that lasted 4 days and 27/9 onwards had symptoms of nausea, tiredness, headaches and vomitted only twice on the 29/9 and 12/10. Really confused as to what is going on now as I was happy thinking I had got away with any side effects and periods had finally stopped but not for long. I am gutted and not sure whether these are just side effects of mirena if it is I'm gonna get rid coz its depressing feeling like this and I have only felt like this for the past 3 wks.

I was on Mirena about a year and a half ago... I ALWAYS thought I was pregnant and then one day it fell out I guess haha but anyways... Mirena releases hormones into your body that make it think it is pregnant so a lot of times you get pregnancy signs. It drove me nuts and I found myself testing almost every month thinking I was pregnant. My doctor said this is all normal and that it is near impossible to get pregnant off Mirena... I knew once my IUD fell out because I got my period so bad the next month. I went for an ultrasound and sure enough it was gone. Also, Mirena can cause cysts on your ovaries so be careful.

Hope this helps!
