Mirena

Hi there, I had an IUD (mirena) inserted two weeks ago.  I am still experience quite a bit of cramping, heavy spotting with clots, and breast tenderness.  I have no cramping in the morning and early afternoon, but it can get pretty bad into the evening causing me to break out in sweat. Is this normal? Is there anything i can do to help the process along?

Thank you :)

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

These could be the side effects of the IUD. You may try exercising and taking plenty of water. However, if the symptoms are too bothersome, you may consider an evaluation by a gynaecologist and if these are believed to be due to the IUD, one may consider alternative options.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
