Missed pills, no period during placebo week
I have been on Marvelon 28-day BC pills for 2 months. I was also on it 3 yrs ago and i would get my period 2-3 days into the placebo week EVERY time. I skipped the first placebo week of pills for a trip, and i took my last active pill on august 23rd. I have no period yet, and i have discharge that resembles that to ovulation- stringy and clear. I had unprotected sex on aug 9th and aug 20th and both of those times ironically i missed a pill by 12 hours (caught up in the night!) why am i not getting my period? should i be taking a pregnancy test?

Thanks for writing in this forum. I can very well understand your concern. In your case, the possibility of pregnancy cannot be ignored. It is true that the active pills of oral contraceptives can be taken for extended periods of time to delay or skip periods. But it is not without side effects. Irregularity in menstrual periods and break through bleeding are common side effects of taking oral contraceptives continuously. This irregularity can be in the form of light or heavy bleeding or delayed periods.
But on account of your unprotected intercourse and missing the active pills on the days of unprotected intercourse; raises the possibility of pregnancy. I would suggest to get a urine for pregnancy test (UPT) done. For this highly sensitive UPT kits(like aimstrip test) are available in the market and which can measure levels of hCG as low as 25 mIU.The test can detect pregnancy after 7-10 days of conception. I would also suggest you to consult a gynecologist and get UPT or serum hCG levels estimated to confirm the status of pregnancy.

I finally got my period late last night. Guess my cycle was just messed up. KILLER cramps this month though, not usual for me but glad to see everything is ok with me.
Still no period today (the 28th). I am just worried because this is totally not normal for me. I always got my period right away during placebo week, and I did not have any breakthrough bleeding or anything. I do have a little bit of cramping this morning but no sign of a period. My boyfriend also thinks I should take a test as he is worried sick also. I have a housewarming party tonight, and I don't want to drink unless I know for sure that I am not pregnant.
