Vitamin D and the pill? PLEASE HELP ASAP!

Hey there,
I need to take a vitamin D supplement because I live in upstate New York, and during the winter I don't see much sun and I end up getting quite sad. I  also am a sexually active college student, so I CANNOT jeopardize the effectiveness of my birth control. I take the birth control karma (desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol and ethinyl estradiol, It's the generic for Mircette). I read on the back of the vitamin D that it might affect birth control. It says it absorbs into your system in 45 minutes. I was planning on taking it around 10 am, and I normally take my birth control at 4:15 pm every day. Is that a smart way to do it, or would it still interact some how? Thanks for reading! :) ( I  could list the ingredients in the vitamin D if needed)
