BIRTH CONTROL....

I am currently on Depo Vera (the shot) i have been on it for a while but the symptoms have got to the point in which i do not like, i have gained almost 50 lbs in the last year to two yrs and i still exercise and eat the same as i did b4 the shot, also my sex drive has slowed way down. So i am looking to switch birth controls, i do not want the pill in fear of not remembering on a daily basis. I was looking online about the patch but i have also heard of skin problems from it.  Can someone please recommend me a good type of birth control?

Im thinking about next time i start my period to start the patch at that time and after i get on a regular cycle again to start mirena. but will i have the weight gain like i did with the depo sense i may not have periods? as much as i like not having periods i do not like the weight ive gained from it and the other symptoms so im trying to pick a BC that will make my body act normal as if i wasnt on a BC. and i dont no much about any BC out there so just need help. Thanks

You don't have to get Mirena replaced for 5 years! You don't go back in every year to get it replaced...just for the normal gyno exam.  You can have the same one in for up to 5 years.  Also another option is the copper IUD (paraguard), it can stay in for 10 years and never needs replaced until then.  With the Mirena there is a slight hormone that is released with it.  The copper IUD there are no hormones.  With the Mirena you typically have lighter/no period.  The Copper one you typically have heavier, more painful periods.  They are both nice because no one knows they are there, and you don't have to remember to do anything, except every 5 or 10 years! I have had both...unfortunatley, I don't react well to BC.  I have tried lots of different ones.  I have done pills, minipills, Depo Shot, and like I said Mirena and Copper IUD's.  Never done the patch...I think I am not meant to have BC or something with the way I react to everything!

really good is the mirena. it goes in and stays there for an entire year, then u go back to the gyno and get it replaced. this happens for 5 years. after the 5th year u take it out and wait a few months to get another 5 year doses. This way, you never had to worry about skin problems, missing your pill, or taking a painful shot. it doesnt hurt wen inserted, not wen taken out. Only a bit of pressure which is much better then pregnancy, I am currently on mirena and let me tell you, no condom is better then worrying. They will try and worry you saying there is a chance of this and that but honestly, there isnt. May be but thats like 1 person out or every 100 people who get those symptoms. Yaz is ok too, but yaz has to be replaced every month and you replace it. Mirena, the gyno does it and any type of insurance covers it... Good luck
