Birth control

Hi! I'm almost 21 and am getting married in a few months. I am about to visit the gyno for the first time to start routine visits as well as get some sort of contraception/birth control. I was wondering as someone who has never taken any or had any, what would be the best kind to try first as a beginner? Thank you!

The doctor will start you on a basic birth control, probably combination estrogen / progestin, bare in mind there are different concentrations which can lead to different benefits/ side effects or they might not work as indicated at first. Doctors usually recommend 3 month trial before switching. I went through 3 kinds, first I had my period for 3wks/ month, so I switched second I had my period every second week, third gave me two week long periods, till lastly I ended up with yasmin (drosperidone), which works for me, but isn't for everybody, I like it because I no longer break out, my period is regular, no bloating, no cramps... but also no sex drive and higher chance of blood clots compared to other pills.
