You don't even need to talk to the doctor. You can either call a pharmacist, or simply go to the website of the BCP.
For MOST oral contraceptives, if you take your first pill on day 1 of your period, you are protected right away. If you start on the Sunday following the first day of your period, it will take 7 days to become effective.
If you start at a random time, you should use protection for a full cycle.

There are non latex condoms readily available.
Using the pill doesn't protect you from STD's, so you should use a non latex condom, regardless.
And as others pointed out, nothing is 100%, although the pill is close. Your question shows that you don't have much understanding of how it works, so you may be at higher risk of unintended pregnancy.
Use a non latex condom, every time, to be as safe as possible, both from disease AND pregnancy.
I with msniki412 on this. I think the best thing for you to do is consult your doctor if you are still worried. I have been on birth control for nearly two years now and I still refuse to have sex without a condom. I don't want to risk anything as the pill is only like 99%. I'm sure I would be fine, but I'm a worry guts and I don't know what I would do if I became pregnant. For the time being, I would consult your doctor, or talk to you parents (if you can), and use non latex condoms.
Hope everything works out okay.

I dont get it. If your so worried about getting pregnant, why wouldn't you read the instrutions on the birth control package? It says you need to give your body 3 months for cycles to be normal, and 1 cycle for you to be fully protected UNLESS you started your first pill on your period. If you start while on your period, then your already protected. But, because no birth control is 100% effective, a backup is always reconmended. If your allergic to latex, then I suggest to buy the non latex condoms (they make them, because the girl at work has the same problem).
I meant to send the comment to babyboom119
If you just started taking birth control pills, they say that it usually takes about 3 months for it to become effective. The only way to know for sure is to wait until the end of the month to see whether you get your period or not and if you don't take a HPT. If that's still a long way from now, I would definitely consult with your doctor about your situation and see what he tells you.
It depends on your birth control. Some start instantly but some take a few weeks or months to kick in. What is your birth control called. I am Microgynon 30 and it starts after you take the first pill. Hope everything is alright.
