Nexplanon Side Effects
I just want a little clarification. I've had the Nexplanon implant for about...3 months now. I've done my research and read all of the side effects. I haven't had a menstrual cycle since the implant, I have also taken a pregnancy test and came out negative. I know this is mentioned on a lot of side effect lists but I just want to make sure there's nothing I should rush to a doctor to get checked out. I also have read about back pain and I have been experiencing extreme back pain to the point that it keeps me up at night. I also suffer from depression and lately have fallen into a deeper depression than normal, I also checked this out and although it's not common it is a possible side effect. I also smoke, which I've read is a very poor combination with this type of birth control. And I have been gaining quite an amount of weight. Is there any reason I should "rush" to a doctor for any of these side effects? I have been contemplating getting the implant removed but I haven't weighed out my options enough yet to make a clear decision.

Users of this birth control method have a small increased risk of getting a blood clot in a vein compared to non-users so it is best to avoid smoking. Headache, mood changes, abdominal pain, loss of libido, and vaginal dryness may be seen in few women using the implant. Few women may also have weight gain as one of its side effects. Few women may also develop ovarian cysts while on nexplanon.

It is best to have a frank discussion with your gynecologist about these side effects. He/she may suggest an alternative birth control method which may be most suitable for you.
