Hello there,
Nexplanon causes disruption of the menstrual cycle. It may cause irregular bleeding or spotting, heavy or prolonged bleeding, or your menstrual bleeds to stop altogether. Users of this birth control method have a small increased risk of getting a blood clot in a vein compared to non-users so it is best to avoid smoking. Headache, mood changes, abdominal pain, loss of libido, and vaginal dryness may be seen in few women using the implant. Few women may also have weight gain as one of its side effects. Few women may also develop ovarian cysts while on nexplanon.
It is best to discuss the risks and benefits of any birth control method before starting to use it.
It is best to have a frank discussion with your gynecologist about these side effects. He/she may suggest an alternative birth control method which may be most suitable for you.
A clinical examination and evaluation is extremely important for correct diagnosis and management of your condition. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. Take care and keep me posted on how you are doing.
Kind regards!
