I take effexor 37mg and 1 mg of rivotril

I work out at the gym and take it pretty serious, and wanted to know if these meds (Effexor 37mg and rivotril) can decrease muscle gain?

HI Marcio and thanks so much for posting this great question! Feel free to post this question in any other forum related with Neurology or Psychiatry they may be able to help you as well.
First I want to congratulate you first for taking exercise so seriously since it is a great signal for a healthy lifestyle.
Effexor and Effexor SR are approved to treat depression, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. They have also been used off-label to treat migraines, diabetic neuropathy, and hot flashes.
According to the official Effexor XR website, common side effects may include nausea, dizziness, sleepiness, sweating, dry mouth, gas, abnormal vision, nervousness, insomnia, loss of appetite, constipation, confusion, agitation, tremors, yawning, palpitations, and increased cholesterol.

Rivotril according to research may affect more the Musculoskeletal system though weakness and fatigue.

Several experts and patients taking this sorts of medication tend to report "aches in muscles and joints" so if that is your case you probably want to adjust your training. The reason is that your slow twitch and fast twitch fibers feel more fatigued and take longer to recover so in stages where you need to increase overload in training you may feel your body is not ready. If that is not your case those are good news since every case is different. Regarding the decrease of muscle gain research shows that there is no direct implication but indirectly clearly if your muscles don't recover fast enough you may feel reaching a plateu much faster.

In the table 3 you can see a possible list of side effects of Effexor. Copy and paste the following link so as you can see the incidence on your musculoskeletal system although present it is reduced

My recommendation is that you may want to look into breaking the sessions more often lets say instead of a session of an hour maybe you want to do sessions of 20-30 minutes maybe 2-3 times. What happens when you break down the sessions is that your catabolic hormones tend to never appear so anabolic hormones are building enzymes contributing to muscle gain.

If you are prescribed please follow your doctor's recommendations and try to work around it. The human body it is fascinating and the capacity we all have for plasticity not only for the brain but for the muscles it is absolutely incredible. I hope this works and you keep progressing!
