Pituitary Tumor and Pseudo Tumor Cerebri

Hi Doc,
Thank God they finally made a forum for brain tumors.  I just had a pituitary tumor removed about 2 weeks ago.  They did one of those up the nose surgeries.  I still have headaches.  I am not sure if it's from recovering from the surgery or from my pseudo tumor cerebri.  I was diagnosed with that one first and they did an MRI just to make sure and that's when they discovered the pituitary tumor.  It was 11mm.  I have had 1 LP and the pressure was at 320.  I don't really know if that is really high or not so high.  My primary told me that I should only need like 3 or 4 LPs and eventually the Pseudo tumor would go away on it's own.  The neuro surgeon told me that I may have to have a permenant shunt put in.  Who is right?

In general people can fly after resection of a pituitary adenoma.
I am not sure about your specific situation. You should ask your surgeon.

Dear caitlyn0598,

I am bnot sure in what unit that pressure was measured, but it doesnt sound right.
My experience is that some people can recover from pseudotumor cerebri, but the majority needs treatment. It requires the installation of a shunt and some times, also optic nerve fenestration, to prevent vision deterioration.
