a question to Ms rumpled about radiation

hi
i just want to ask
i read on the internet that  Cancers caused by the ct scan radiation appear 20-30 years after

but my question is that possible only after 11 month?
when we are talking about a ct scan with 3 or 4 msv?

im soo worried because i have constant Headache and 11 month ago i had a head ct
w&wo contrast due to dizziness

do i need to worry about cancer from ct radiation now only after 11 month
or as i read on the net after 20 to 30 years

and why it takes 20 to 30 years?

Why not get help for your panic attacks? That is more likely the cause of the headaches than one CT.

I don't know of any cases of any tumor in any part of the body from a CT after 1-2 years - no brain, not anywhere.

Did you only have one CT in all your life? The odds of cancer from it are very low. From what I have read, the time frame comes into play after exposure (and not just to one) and that cells change over time. I don't think that one year is enough time typically.

In reality, there is radiation all around us - sunshine is radiation too - but you want to be out in the sun it gives us vitamin D. If you ride on an airplane, it gives you radiation as well.

Life is all about balancing risk - and simply you have to decide if you want to have tests and take the risk - any and all tests and even just leaving the house has a risk.

As for the headache, it is a non-specific symptom in that it can be migraine, sinus, etc etc - and the real odds of cancer are actually quite low.

Please talk to a doctor about the constant headaches - there is no need to suffer but realize that any and all life and tests comes with risks small and large and your doctor can outline them for you knowing your history and how much radiation you have had in the past.

Myself, I have had multiple CT scans of the head, chest abdomen and even a PT scan which is really high in radiation - and so far, no cancer - and my immune system is severely compromised. Every body differs.
