Update 2 weeks post surgery

I got my pit tumor resection on Feb 17 and wanted to give an update.

It has been 2 weeks and I am doing just fine.. I was on my feet the second day. They took the patches out of my nostril the next day. The first week I was so tired I just slept the whole time. The only thing that is bothering me is the numbness on my left side of my head. The surgeon said it is nothing got to do with the surgery itself. It must be the pins they put on my head to secure my head that must hit a nerve. It is slowly going away but it scared me in the beginning. I had headaches that slowly went away in time. I am on hydro cortison as my body does not produce enough cortisol but I did not get my 2nd post surgery blood test results yet to see if it is elevated. ( I had 3.5 in the hospital after surgery, and arnd 8 the first week, it shld be arnd 18 - 20 to be normal) But I feel much better.

So whoever is facing this surgery, just take a breath and relax. This was my second surgery and this time it was thru my nose. The first time was thru my gumline and it took longer to recover. Now I am home relaxing and taking it easy. No bending, no lifting..

Any questions, I will try to answer them based on my experience..

Best wishes to all of you ..

Hiya-
Sorry about the taste thing. I lost most of my sense of smell after my last surgery that was to repair a CSF leak done through the nose over a year ago. It improved in asbout 6 weeks, but never all the way. So now my sense of taste is weak. I don't like it but really had no choice as the ENT surgeon really had to look and move things around a lot.

OMG.... a brownie...oooh.... I remember it took a few months for the numbness to completely go away and taste came back gradually.

It was different though for everyone - some of my buds got it back faster, or were less impaired.

I wonder though if it is the hormones or the actual surgery - since it is 4 years since my adrenals now, and my pepper taste is totally changed - I had to adjust for what I liked after that surgery.

how long did it take you to regain your taste?? Almost 3 weeks still no taste 100
%. Yesterday, I was on a sugar crave and ate a brownie and did not taste it. 500 calories for nothing!!! I am getting anxious about this taste thing..

I remember that too - even with a small tumor, then it was normal.

After my adrenals came out, I can no longer tolerate even pepper. My tastes changed.

it was my 2nd time pit tumor resection, First one was 2 cm , this one was 1.2 cm. After 2 weeks still no taste sense 100 %, but I am hoping by time it will  get better. I can taste some but not completely. So far aside from the numbness, this is the only thing that is bothering me.

I am so glad everything went well for you, it's nice to hear some positive things and what others have experienced with pituitary tumors.
