Your Opinion

Hello, I am a 17 Years Old. I am a two sport athlete (basketball & baseball. I am a little overweight. I have been diagnosed with low blood pressure and have the usual dizzy spell when standing up too fast. I also have swollen lymphnodes on my neck, one of which was biopsied, and results were fine. Today, I had a different kind of dizzy spell. I was sitting down, talking to my mother, then stood up, I started to get dizzy, so I paused to recollect myself like normal. But then I lost my vision, as everything went black. Once it went black, I basically lost control of my arms/upper body, as a result I started 'flailing' back and forth but was able to keep myself from falling as I still had maintained balance of my lower body. This process went on for about 20 seconds, and then was gone.

Have you heard of this before? Should I consider getting an MRI?  Basically, what do you think I should do?

That may have been stones or infection perhaps? Did you ever get basic electrolyte tests that show sodium and potassium levels?

If you have a BP meter at home, you can test yourself sitting to standing, laying to standing and seeing how it is. But have someone there. There is also a BP tracker here to use - that may be helpful to use for the doctor.

About the kidney thing. I dont know if it has anything to do with this, but when I was 6, I remember I had some kidney problem, which resulted in me urinating out blood.

I dont really crave it. I am not sure if I have ever had renin or aldosterone tested. My mom really wants me to go see my doctor, so I could bring that up then. About POTS, things seem pretty similar, other than POTS normally lasts up to 10 minutes, my occurence lasted about 30 seconds

Low blood pressure can be a kidney issue. Have you had your renin and aldosterone tested? How is your sodium and potassium levels? Do you crave salt?

Well I did the tilt table test when I was first diagnosed with the low blood pressure. Didn't really get any answers, other than my bottom number got down to 18, and still wasnt dizzy, just weak. I will research POTS.
Thanks!

No. You were sitting down, getting up. That is more autonomic - that means your body can't keep up when going from one position from another. I would go see a cardiologist - do a tilt table test. It is probably POTS - postural orthostatic tachachardic syndrome. You may need something to help with the low BP, or you just may need to be aware that getting up - you can't do it fast!
I have it too.
