brain numbness, pins and needles, tremors, eyes hurt behind them.

hello everyone. iam a 19 year old college student. ive been drinking fairly heavy on weekends for the past 2 years and took some nitric oxide products for weightlifting. my diet consisted of eggs, chicken, greens, and LOTS of fish. hardly any carbs for about 6 months. i was also eating salmon twice a day everyday.

it started out two weeks ago as a brain numbness, kind of felt like my leg was asleep. got some pins and needles a few days later. headaches just wouldnt stop, and they didnt fell like normal headaches. i had insomnia for a week (going to bed at 10am, waking up at 5pm) before they started. i visited a friend at a college and they got much worse. i felt really hott when it was cold/vice versa.

so i go home with my father for two days until i see the doctor. doctor puts me on amoxicillan and tells me it could just be sinusitis as my ears were really red and inflamed, he said he would treat that first. next day i develop a horrid cough. along with that, around 7 i felt like i was going to faint and there was pressure on my eyes and they got really red. what i dont understand is my temperature was lower than normal (96.0). next day i experienced a runny nose also. ears barely even hurt before the meds.

other symptoms include extreme fatigue, extreme dizziness, blurred vision, and those temperature chills without a fever.

head feels like its hit with an axe now but it hurts to move eyes in different directions and they are watering. a cold tower seems to work a little bit on them.

no family history of anything but anxiety and i did play a lot of videogames as a kid.

cant go to the hospital unless its serious because i dont have hospitalization because im a part time student.
dad says im just acting soft, never had these symptoms or pain before though.

appreciate any input.
thank you all!

arli - the doc is a complete idiot. he told me he was doing the blood tests. i guess he tested for very little. sent the results to my moms home instead of my college one only because i called them asking for them because they "forgot" about them. still have not seen them. my mom faxed my dad a copy and he said they only said, "everything came back ok." dont know what the heck that is supposed to mean. im going to go back to that doctor and ask for a full copy.

You may need to see a neurologist or an endocrinologist, but if your blood test results don't warrant it, you may not be able to get a referral from your primary doc.
I took my son to an endocrinologist, and also a neurologist, without waiting for a referral. I was researching his symptoms, but his primary doc wasn't listening to me, and wasn't concerned that he had stopped growing, was weak and nauseous, and had extreme, unending light sensitivity.

The neurologist unfortunately was young and inexperienced, but the endocrinologist ordered an mri immediately. The mri found my son's pituitary tumor. After the mri, my son had his first attack of adrenal insufficiency, which caused sudden anxiety, low body temp. (96), and uncontrollable shaking.

I hope you don't have a brain tumor, but you may need to seriously explore this possibility, without the aid of your primary doctor.  I had to.

If you continue to have symptoms of low body temp. and shaking, it could be a hypothalamic injury or endocrine imbalance. But hopefully, it's not anything this serious.

Hope you're feeling better today.  :)

As you say you are 19, it is illegal for a doctor to send your blood test results to your parents unless you signed a release allowing him to do so.  Ask for a copy of all tests and chart notes from your doctor so YOU know what is going on with your body.  Something tells me that they didn't do very extensive blood tests.  With you records, you will be able to chart what the doctor is really saying.  It's an educational process and you can Google the terminology.

body temp is a bit low. its like 96.0. been like that for a month or two. i assumed everything would be tested. he said he would send it to my mom but dad just got a copy saying i was okay and he is pissed. i will ask that doc about that.

heads shaking and its weird man. that is nothing to be worried about is it?

thanks for your input.

Did you get a copy of your test, or did the doc tell you it all looked normal, over the phone? You should have a copy, so that you know what the doc tested for.
Do you know if you had a glucose level as part of the test, or thyroid?
Low blood sugar is hypoglycemia. Low body temp. and shaking can come from this. You would feel very sick.
Thyroid and adrenal hormone insufficiencies will also cause low body temp. and shaking.
This can be tested for.
If you can let me know what exactly your blood tests showed, I might get some ideas of what could be wrong. Otherwise, it's all guesswork.  ;)

i just got a blood test. it came back normal. feeling decent aside from what seems to be a full body vibration/shaking. hands are shaking, head is vibrating and i can feel it. its all weird. what exactly is low blood sugar? i take a lot of vitamins and rarely drink caffeine anymore. past 2 months i have felt sick as a dog though.

thanks

Are you drinking the electrolyte drinks?  Tremors and muscle spasms during the night are usually a need for more magnesium, and calcium. They can also be caused by nighttime hypoglycemia. Have you been tested for low blood sugar?

been taking vitamin c and finished up amoxicillan. the cough, sneeze, pain behind eyes, and ear infection are gone.

now i have sharp pain on the sides of my head again. close to my ear to the left of my left ear and the right of my right ear. jaw hurts a bit too.
doctor never really wanted to check out my head. said it should just all be sinus.

Get some Acidophilus from your local health food store, with bifidus in it if possible. Also, Slippery Elm is very soothing and healing to the intestinal tract. Amoxicillin can throw off your bacterial balance quickly, and allow the "bad" bacteria to overwhelm your digestive tract.
Taking Quercetin with Bromelain enzyme can relieve sinus pressure and inflammation. It's great stuff. I use it for any inflammation, along with Vitamin C and zinc.

It is possible to develop an allergy to any food that is eaten in excess. And fish can have a lot of chemicals in it also. Red ears are a hallmark symptom of a food allergy.
It's possible for a broad spectrum antibiotic like amoxicillin to make this situation worse, by killing off the "good" bacteria in your gut, as well as the bad. Some people are sensitive, and even allergic to the "cillin" group of antibiotics.

As you probably know, alcohol is bad for your liver, the major organ for detoxifying the body, and it is also toxic to brain and the adrenal glands, which affect a huge number of body systems.
See an allergist if you can afford any doctor, and go on a cleansing diet immediately, to detoxify. Try eating brown rice, lots of organic vegetables, organic chicken and turkey, drink at least eight full glasses of water (the water is important), and drink electrolyte drinks that will help keep proper mineral balance.

If your symptoms continue, find a different doctor to help you, Writing your symptoms down daily in a log can help with diagnosis.
