maybe a daft question

Hi all am new to this forum.
I am a 32yr old female

I have been having severe one sided headaches esp behind my eye for the last year and recently started to become clumsy and have a distinct reduction in my concentration and cognitive skills.
I had a CT scan last May and was told that there was nothing to see....yaaay.
I have since been told by a neuro that i now need an MRI of my brain esp my pituitary gland.
What is the difference between the 2 scans in terms of what can be seen???
I am quite worried now about my symptoms and the constant pain is making it very difficult to look after my 3 children, work and study.
I think i am really looking for a bit of reassurance??
Thanks in advance
Twinkle

The two scans are different - the CT is better at some structures while the MRI picks up different things - and CTs cannot pick up tiny things like pit adenomas so it has to be used to look at the pit. That being said, they use 3mm slices so stuff can fall between the slices so you also need lab testing as well.

There must be something that is making your doc think pituitary - and pituitary lesions have lots of symptoms so your doc is pretty smart.

Get copies of all your tests and your reports.

this could be migrain, glucoma, or giant cell arteritis, if the doctor said there os nothing to worry about.
if you are taking the oral contracepetive pills or you are wearing glasses you have to recheck that.
