Abnormal CT scan

The other day I was taken to our local emergency room with symptoms of a heart attack.  The did numerous tests.  One of the tests done was a CT of my chest, looking for a blod clot.  I was told all of my tests came back negative.  At my follow-up with my GP today, he asked if they discussed the abnormalities in my CT scan.  It seems there is a lump in my left breast.  My gp has ordered a mamo, ultrasound and mri.  I am 50 years old and my last mamo was 13 months ago.  How worried should I be?

Thanks for the kind words.  I should know more on 6/12.  When will you know more information?  It seems amazing how things are found when you are looking for something else.

I'm in a similar situation.  I had a chest CT done recently to check for lung metastases for my recurrent thyroid cancer.  While I don't have any lung mets, the scan did show a "focal nodular area" in my left breast.  I am scheduled tomorrow for a mammogram and an ultrasound.  Please keep me posted on what they figure out with you and I will try to do the same.  Hopefully, it will both turn out to be nothing for both us of.

Take care,

Amy

The Mammo and US could be read on the spot but the MRI report would take some time. I'm sure you'll get the rest of your information at your appointment. Some things just can't be rushed and the interpretation of the MRI would be one of them.  You'll just have to do your best as the waiting game .... it's tough but necessary.   Regards ....

I just got back from my tests.  They did a mammogram, ultrasound and mri.  The mammo showed 1 lump, which has the characteristics of a lymph node, the ultrasound showed 2 lumps (above the nipple toward the armpit), which also has the characteristics of lymph nodes, then they did the mri, but they gave me no information at all.  I see my doctor 6/12.  My problem is my Type A persoanlity!  I like all my info and then act.  Any ideas?

It's impossible to speculate at this point as to how worried you should be about this new finding. I'm certain the tests ordered by your Dr. will clarify what is going on regarding the lump. A biopsy may be necessary as further investigation depending on the reports of the Mammogram, US and MRI.     Regards ....
