Breast Cancer

I have been dealing with a left breast infection for almost a year now, at first and it came and went.  But since November of 2010, it has never completely went away.  I recently had a core biospy done and now am going on my third antibotic (amoxicllian, keflex, aumentin) and nothing has reduced the pain, heat, redness of this mass, however have not noticed any discharge.  It is very close to my nipple which is inverted (but always has been).  But the last couple of days, I notice that the redness has doubled in size and it almost appears to look like a boil in the center of the redness.  I have been to the breast specialist and my family doctor and they just keep changing the antibotic.  But I am looking for some relief and answers of what I can do to reduce this.  Does anyone have any suggestions.

I think you should be checked out for possible IBC (Inflammatory breast cancer)

Many doctors these days are still not educated about this possibility. I don't want to scare you, or suggest this is what you have, as I have no clue, but I am certain that it's something that needs to be considered.

Go to the best breast surgeon around, OK?

Please let us know.

I see no connection between the chronic infection you have and breast cancer. Some infections of this sort are VERY difficult to treat as you obviously know. The only suggestion is to follow whatever recommendations as far as antibiotic therapy .... if you have doubts about your treatment then seek a second opinion from another Physician. These cases are very unfortunate but not all that unusual.   Regards ....
