Dear wmac, Breast pain is a common breast symptom. The reason for breast pain is not clearly understood, and is not usually associated with breast cancer. It is possible to have a breast lump that cannot be seen on a mammogram or ultrasound. In general, lumps that can be felt require further evaluation. If the doctor is suspicious a biopsy may be recommended. Hopefully the specialist you see will be able to clarify your situation for you.
Please see a breast specialist, they will have the best input for you. I don't think you can link breast cancer and pain or not. I have heard of every combination. If they aren't sure they can do an MRI or a biopsy.
Do you have B-Cancer?

Hi,
I also have costochronditis. Before I knew I had this, I went to the Dr about breast/chest wall pain. It's really hard to tell the difference sometimes. I didn't feel a distinct lump - although I do have normally lumpy 'fibrosistic' breats. Anyway, it's good that your seeing a specialist - so you can be sure it's nothing serious.
Anyway - it took quite a long time (months) for the costochronditis to feel better - and sometimes it does act up a bit - advil/motrin really helps - and if it was cancer I don't think a pain reliever would do much good. Also, the left side is common for costo - that' where mine is located.
I also had a small lump on my right breast that wasn't seen with an ultrasound - they say if it was cancer, it would have shown up - and now I don't feel it anymore.
Good luck with your appointments - I'm sure you'll be fine.
Yes I had BC, I did not feel a lump or have any pain. Showed up on a regular mammogram at age 39.
