Breast MRI results

I would like some advice on interpreting the findings of my MRI,which came back as BI-RADS 4A (Suspicious finding and biopsy recommended).I am 56,perimenopausal  and prior ultrasound core biopsy (Dec.2006) demonstrated on the left breast "moderate epithelial hyperplasia, stromal fibrosis, focal microcalcifications;a focal area of columnar cell change with hyperplasia and focal cytological atypia".THe MRI report states that" the breasts are composed of scattered fibroglandular tissue, which demonstrates minimal normal progressive background parenchymal enhancement. In the posterior third of the LEFT laeral breast towards the 3:00 position, there is an irregular rounded promptly enhancing mass 9x7mm(AP x transverse),demonstrating progressive contrast enhancementkinetics on the delayed phases. In the posterior thirdb of the LEFT upper outer quadrant towards the 2:00 position, there is an area of libnear and clumped nonmasslike enhancement measuring 1.8x0.7cm(APx transverse),demonstrating progressive contrast enhancement kinetics on the delayed phases.Medially adjacent to the pectoralis muscle in the LEFT breast at 3:00 position, there is a rounded progressive enhancing mass measuring 5mm in size. There is a similar sized lesion on priorb mammograms, and this small enhancing mass likely rectum is consistent with a tiny lymph node. There is no abnormal enhancement in the RIGHT breast .There is no axillary or internal mammary adenopathy."
I  am wondering if I should do the MRI guided biopsy now or  wait until I see the surgeon,to correlate all the findings.

The language used in these reports was never meant for the ordinary person but for the Physician. I have seen some reports that are more understandable than the one you posted here .... I would contact the Surgeon's office about the lack of communication about the timing of the appointment and the biopsy. It could be that the Surgeon would prefer to leave the biopsy to the Radiology Dept. and have it completed before he/she sees you in the office. Take care ....

Thank you so much for your prompt response.
I also think it might be better to wait. The appointment with the surgeon that I requested  is only at the beginning of March and the radiology department has been trying to book the MRI guided biopsy for January. There seems to be a lack of coordination here.Anyway, I still don't understand the terminology of 'mass' and non- mass' on the report.

I would wait until you see the Surgeon as he/she will no doubt be the person to do the recommended biopsy no matter what type is done. Evidently the 5mm mass demonstrated is thought to be a lymph node which would not be of particular concern unless it had changed drastically since it was noted on the previous Mammograms.  Regards ....
