Breast Pain

I've had breast pain & swelling for over 2 months. Two doctors can feel swollen tissue in part of my breast where the pain is. Had a mammogram & ultra sound which didn't come up with anything. Took antibiotics in case of infection & that didn't help either. After mammogram I started having nipple discharge on that breast which came back saying  'rare histiocytes'. The doctor said the histiocytes are probably reacting to the inflammation in my breast but just continue to wait because it's unlikely I have breast cancer.
Any insight on 'Rare histiocytes' that were detected? Anyone else experience this that can provide some info? I know what I'm experiencing isn't "normal".

My guess or the way I interpreted it was that there were few and far between so to speak. Of course they are not all that common either. Sorry about the Expert Forum thing .... I looked and it isn't there. I don't often ck. on those other Forums so the BC one was obviously discontinued due to the difficulty in finding volunteer Physicians to staff it. Good luck with the Jan. appointment; I'm sure you'll get more information then even though it is a rather complex subject.  Take care ....

Thank you for your response. I didn't see a specific expert forum on breast cancer. I have set up an appointment with a specialist in January.
I appreciate your input on the "rare histiocytes detected". I wondered if that was due to the fact it was noted to be a small sample and they were rarely present or because it was actually a rare cell.
Thanks again!

Histiocytosis is a rather complicated issue which can relate to a number of diseases .... one being malignant tumors. If you aren't seeing a Breast Specialist I suggest that you do so. Breast discharge of course can be an indicator of a problem involving the milk ducts. I would like for you to post your question & concerns on the Expert Forum (Breast Cancer) where Dr.s answer questions. In your report the word RARE was mentioned so these cells may be of less concern in your case than if they were in greater numbers. Regards .....
