Breast Shrinkage

My mom is a 10 year IDC survivor that was treated with lumpectomy, rads and tamoxifen and femara.  She recently had a normal diagnostic mammogram.  She has noticed recently that her treated breast is shrinking in size.  Could this be a long term effect of radiation??   I am afraid of it being a recurrence or a new primary like ILC.  Any input would be great!  Thanks!

Radiation could indeed be the culprit. As much good as it does it unfortunately has serious consequences too. Thank goodness shrinkage is the only one, right? :)

Best wishes for your Mother.

Thanks.  I appreciate you sharing that way with me.  I am just worried because its so many years later.  I know she will mention it to her doctor at the end of the month.  Thanks again!!!!!

Hi,
I have searched over the internet about your mom's breast shrinkage and I found something that could interest you.
As far as I can see, radiation could indeed cause the breast to shrink years after it has been radiated.
When you get to the fifth paragraph, click on (see pic) and you'll see for yourself.

I hope this helps.. and best wishes to both you and your mom.
