Breast Ultrasound

I went for a Mammo and a breast ultrasound today because of a dimpled area on the bottom left of my left breast. I am just shy of turning 36.  While there is no breast cancer in my immediate family, I have lost many of my family to other cancers. During these procedures the technicians did not give me any information.  However during the ultrasound the technician took several still pictures as well as marking a dark area with an arrow and taking measurements of the spot.  Is this normal procedure or does this mean that there was an abnormality found during the test?  I was told I would get the result in approx. 3 days from my doctor, but I will be out of town then for a week, so my stress level is going through the roof.

Thanks

ok so the mammo didn't show anything but the ultrasound showed a thickening of the dense breast tissue in the location that the dimpling is and they said I have to go back again in 4 months for another ultrasound.

There may have been an area of density that the tech. marked to highlight it for reading later. Often areas are marked for comparison to the Mammogram films as things may appear differently on the two types of imagery. I think your stress level is pretty much a normal reaction as our minds tend to take control of us at times like these. Waiting is the absolute worst ... everyone says so.  Take care and stay calm; your results will be available soon.
